It was on June 14 that Sushant Singh Rajput left for his heavenly abode after dying due to suicide. The actor was allegedly battling depression from a long time and it only got worse in the past few days. His tragic demise has brought whole new attention to depression and other mental illnesses, something which a lot of people aren’t really open to talking about. From the past few days, we have been seeing a streak of celebrities advocating for mental health and its importance.
Jumping onto the bandwagon is Bigg Boss 13’s Mahira Sharma, who pointed out the importance of good social support which means opening up to friends, relatives, parents, mentors or seeking professional help “Serious depression doesn't just stop. People often need help from professionals like doctors, psychiatrists and psychologists, and this is nothing to be ashamed of. Remember, you are never alone, so don't suffer in silence” said Mahira. She further urges her fans to open up to their close ones if they ever go through such a situation.
She also appealed to people that if they see someone behaving unusual, they should take the first step and talk to them “Most of the times, personal suffering from depression or anxiety is in denial, they tend to brush it off under the carpet. If you see someone behaving unusual, reach out to them, comfort them and most importantly listen to them,” added the actress.
Reacting to Sushant Singh Rajput’s untimely demise, many Bigg Boss 13 contestants like Rashami Desai, Sidharth Shukla and Asim Riaz among others poured in their condolences and tributes to the late actor.
